NLEOMF

Respect. Honor. Remember.

PLANNED GIVING:
LEAVING A LEGACY

You can leave a legacy to law enforcement by making a contribution to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) by carefully planning your will. A bequest from your estate will support the mission of NLEOMF for generations to come. All gifts to NLEOMF are considered a charitable contribution and may help to reduce estate taxes. Bequests can be made to the Memorial or to the Museum.

Here are some planning tips:

Bequests can either be specific or residual. That is, you can leave NLEOMF a percentage of your assets, a specific dollar amount, or a percentage of your assets after your family is taken care of, called a residual bequest.

The suggested legal language for a specific bequest is:
I leave (dollar amount) to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 400 Seventh Street, NW, Suite 300, Washington DC, to be used for general purposes.

For residual bequests (the portion of the estate left after all specific bequests have been honored):
I give to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 400 7th Street, Suite 300, Washington DC 20004 (all or ___ percent) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for general purposes.

If you wish your bequest to be used for a particular program or purpose, please include that in your will.

Circle of Valor

Donors who make a bequest to NLEOMF become members of the Circle of Valor. As a member of the Circle of Valor your valued gift will be recognized in several ways, including:

  • Your name listed in our annual report, on our donor banner, in our campaign newsletter, and in the Circle of Valor newsletter
  • A special certificate that you can display
  • A Circle of Valor Pin
The Memorial Fund understands that many individuals who make a bequest will decline recognition and the wishes of each individual are respected.

If you have already named NLEOMF in your will we would like to include your name in the Circle of Valor Honor Roll. Contact the office at (202) 737-3400 for further information.
